Since 2012, a workshop in Sicily has been handcrafting jewelry using real volcanic lava rock released from Italy's Mount Etna. The artisans use a special photographic technique to transfer colorful images onto the stone before applying a traditional Italian maiolica finish and firing each piece at high temperatures.
