Found in areas surrounding the Baltic Sea, the rare fossilized tree resin from over 45 million years ago is collected and polished to a smooth finish. As an apprentice to jewelry makers in Israel and Denmark, Avi developed a decidedly international perspective on design - and life. Throughout his career, he has used and shared his talents to help others, mentoring new artisans as well as employing people with disabilities in his workshop. An avid supporter of human rights causes, he participates in empowerment programs for Arab women in Israel, and volunteers at a refugee center for African women in Tel Aviv, bringing the same passion to helping his community as he does to jewelry design.

Avi's Amber & Sterling Silver Necklace

This necklace makes a bold statement. The center stone is sizable with plenty of silver surrounding it & 2 smaller stones, one on either side to set it off. The amber color is a lovely golden caramel color that pops against the silver frame. My only disappointment is that the photo of the necklace clearly shows a heavier chain on either side of the pendant that turns over to a finer chain as it goes up the neck. My necklace is simply a fine chain attaching to the pendant with no variation in size. It appears the artist made a cost-saving decision to go to a finer chain all over in view of rising silver costs. The pendant still hangs well & it doesn't detract from the overall affect, but I noticed it as soon as I opened the box. By the way, I purchased the matching bracelet several years so I'm happy to have been able to purchase the necklace while it was on sale. The 4 stars are because of the chain.
