In her Connecticut studio, Lucille uses marbling techniques that date back to twelfth-century Europe. She floats drops of specialized pigments on a surface of thickened water, then runs a comb-like tool through the ink to create a dramatic pattern. She then places a 100 percent silk scarf on the surface until the design is absorbed.
