Our eco-conscious Florida artisans handcraft each Star of David nightlight one at a time using recycled glass. For nearly two decades they have perfected upcycling discarded glass into unique, translucent nightlights such as this one. For each nightlight, recycled glass is selected and then designed to create this design, before the glass is fused in an energy efficient kiln. Due to the handcrafted nature of this, process no two will be exactly alike. Each nightlight measures 3.5 inches by 5 inches and includes a 4 watt bulb. After years of working with aerosol cans, bubble wrap, and toxic glazes, Vawn and Mike of Florida decided to take a turn in their artistic career and search for a more eco-friendly way to create art. They began focusing on the idea of “re-creating,” and working with materials which already served their purpose. It wasn’t long before they realized the possibilities of using discarded glass bottles as a medium, and their signature line of mosaic-style nightlights was born.
