For this raku horse sculpture, our artisan Lindsey begins by hand-sculpting the body from clay. One at a time, muscle groups, leg joints of nails she makes herself, the head, neck and tail are painstakingly added. After a special glaze is added to create the crackle finish, each horse is kiln fired at a low temperature and, while still hot, placed in a mass of combustible materials (such as straw or sawdust) that stain the exposed body. A variety of colors and patterns emerge making each sculpture uniquely your own. Each approximately 6'' x 7.5''. No two ever alike.
