Our weavers from small communities across Ecuador and Peru use centuries-old looms to create each luxurious striped scarf from alpaca, one of nature's most versatile and renewable materials. While hiking in South America's chilly Andes Mountains, husband-and-wife architects Andrew and Lori discovered the incredibly soft, warm, yet lightweight garments that the indigenous people weave from alpaca fiber. Today they collaborate with artisans in Andean Quechua communities, creating original contemporary designs and sustainable jobs. Warmer than wool, this silky and hypoallergenic scarf is loomed of 80% pure alpaca with 20% nylon for resilience. Each striped alpaca scarf, in shades of purple, petal, and blue, measures approximately 11 inches wide by 78 inches long.
