Each hand-carved zebra, cheetah, elephant, and giraffe napkin ring is meticulously hand-carved from native jacaranda wood by Akamba tribesmen in Mombasa, Kenya. Once carved, the wood is sanded down to a smooth finish and hand-painted with natural colored dyes. A clear wax finish, applied by hand, gives shine and character to each piece. No two will be exactly alike; sizes may vary due to the handcrafted nature of each piece. These hand-carved safari napkin rings measure approximately 3 to 5 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide.

Akamba Tribesman David

David, a member of the Akamba tribe in Mombasa, Kenya, collects fallen jacaranda wood and uses it to create decorative pieces for the home. Using only hand tools, he carves the wood, sands it, and uses natural colored dyes to stain it in a style that reflects the beauty of his native land.
