Ancient Roman Glass Butterfly Sterling Silver Necklace of Israel

Signature Gift Packaging Included For Free!
To create each sterling silver butterfly necklace, our Israeli artisans hand-select fragments of ancient Roman glass, excavated from archeological sites in the Holy Land, then cut and shape them into each stunning piece. A natural patina, created by the chemical interaction with the earth in which it was buried for 2000 years, contributes to the distinct character of each fragment. Intricate handmade .925 sterling silver settings provide a dramatic showcase. Each ancient Roman glass butterfly necklace measures 19.25 inches long with a 1.25 inch long butterfly pendant, lobster clasp.

Handmade goods have cultural significance in almost every subculture and financial class. While the upper echelon may delight in the exclusivity of an object, crafting culture permeates the trendy shops of modern-day, millennial Brooklyn, and led the grassroots, ultra-feminist Riot Grrrl movement of the early 1990s. From punk musicians to polished socialites, an appreciation for handcrafted, one-of-a-kind wares is a common thread that connects us to our humanity. This work reminds us that our fingers can do so much more than just operate machines. It connects us to our cultures, our ancestors, our neighbors, and even strangers from faraway places, just through placing a single object between our palms.
