PRODUCT STORY
For her striking raku elephant sculpture, Lindsey Epstein begins by hand forming the body from clay. One at a time, she adds the muscle groups, head, neck, tail and legs. After she paints on a special glaze that creates the crackle finish, each piece is kiln fired at a low temperature and, while still hot, placed in a mass of combustible materials such as straw or sawdust to stain the exposed body. A variety of colors and patterns emerge making each sculpture uniquely your own. 8.5" x 4" x 7".
