On the Venetian isle of Murano, glass artisans Artemio and Mario use time-honored techniques to create distinctive contemporary millefiori designs. They begin by layering hot strands of colored glass rods into patterns, then slice the rods into cross sections that they fuse together, then mouth blow the molten glass to form these ornaments.
