PRODUCT STORY
According to history, Mexican Opals were used by the Aztecs to adorn ornamental and ceremonial pieces. Opal was also named "hummingbird stone" because of the similarity of the iridescent gem with the feathers of the bird. These sterling silver earrings are set with an inlay of a matrix of Mexican Fire Opal. The rainbow of fire is produced by the diffraction of white light through a micro-structure of silica spheres. Each size sphere reflects light of a different wavelength. This secret combination creates a play of sparking light flashes, similar to flames from a fire that will flicker with every movement of the wearer. Handcrafted by our London silversmith and hallmarked for a guarantee of their sterling silver purity. 1.375" drop, posts. Click Here for more information regarding Fire Opal Jewelry.
