PRODUCT STORY
Six majestic African animals encircle the rim of this dramatic serving piece, meticulously hand-carved out of native jacaranda wood by Akaham-ba tribesmen in Mombasa, Kenya, each a master at his craft. Once carved, the wood is sanded to a smooth finish and hand-painted with natural colored dyes. A clear wax hand-finish gives shine and character to each piece. Handmade uno alla volta, no two are ever alike. Recommended for use with dry snacks (fruits, nuts only). 12" w x 7" l x 4" h.

Kenya
Having lived in Kenya for many years, I was elated to see a wood carving that was authentically made by the Akamba tribesmen. The Akamba tribe have been in the wood-carving business for years. Although someone might think that the carved animals are not 'finished', that's the way the carvings are done.
It's an exotic conversation piece and evokes admiration.
I only wish it were a little bit larger....

The bowl is truly a unique piece of art. The craftsmanship is outstanding. Whether on the table or displayed on a shelf, it never ceases to elicit oohs and aahs, positive comments, gentle touches and appreciation of the artist(s).

Crude Carvings
The bowl I received isn't up to the Uno Allla Volta standard. The carvings are crude and not finished as the catalog and online photograph suggest -- buyer beware.

workmanship
This piece is "as advertised". It is beautiful and the workman ship is fabulous. This piece prompted me to purchase more hand crafted items.
