Element by element. That is how our master woodworker, Etienne Salliard, creates each superbly crafted songbird marquetry music box in his workshop in France's Jura Mountains. He builds the box from pearwood to maximize the sound of the music within. To create the finely detailed marquetry, he uses a special saw and cuts a variety of different types of exotic woods, uno alla volta, then pieces them together like a puzzle. Only after final sanding and hand application of a special varnish and wax for a satin smooth finish, is the box ready to welcome its 18-note Swiss movement. Plays "Que Sera Sera". Approx. 3" square.
