Element by element. That is how our master woodworker, Etienne Salliard, creates each superbly-crafted white rose music box in his Jura Mountains workshop in France. After drawing his design, he builds the box itself from champetre maple, known for its exceptional resonance, to maximize the sound of the music within. To create the finely-detailed rose hinged lid he uses a special saw and cuts six different types of exotic woods, uno alla volta, then pieces them together much like a puzzle. Only after final sanding and hand application of a special varnish and wax for a satin smooth finish, is the box ready to welcome its 18 note Swiss movement which plays Chopin's "La Polonaise" (Till The End Of Time). 4.75" x 4.75".
